Welcome!

Now that I have your attention, this is not the monotonous, standardized blog you may have expected. I try to inform, often go on rants, and constantly fucking cuss. If you don’t like what you find, don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

That said, I am a mid-30s father who enjoys spending time with the kids, tinkering with IoT devices, and information security.

Having been in the IT field for over two decades, I am honored to have witnessed the earlier days of information technology. Thanks to that, I greatly appreciate how far this field has come and try to contribute to it where I can.

Why this blog?

There are a few reasons I am motivated to revamp a personal website again.

Firstly, LinkedIn articles stink. The article section has become an absolute cesspool of IT professionals – and those aspiring to be – spitting out regurgitated pieces like an industrial manufacturing line just to be seen. It’s not really their fault. With today’s availability of job platforms, it has become increasingly hard to stand out.

Secondly, I miss personal websites. Personal sites were still insanely common when I was introduced to computers as a kid (and yes, I mean AOL and 56k modem times). They allowed folks to have a personalized space where they could share what was important to them – while limiting this privilege to people who were not complete idiots. If you have a social media account and haven’t been living under a rock for the past decade, you should understand my sentiment.

Lastly, this helps me. Besides being in a position where I get to help others with some things I learned along the way, it is a fantastic way to keep a record for myself. I love looking back at my earlier code and seeing my progress – starting with my first website at seven. Back then, Micro$oft’s shitty Front Page wasn’t even a thing. I digress.

That should pretty much wrap up the purpose of this blog. If you have made it to this point – thanks for staying. Since this is my personal site, my opinions shared here are precisely that. My opinion, not those of my employer or clients.

PS: It seems my entire life has been one never-ending international move. Don’t expect me to be in the same place tomorrow.
