About Me

Howdy, fellow tech junkies and random internet wanderers!

I’m Chris (aka dancesWithNodes), your guide through this chaotic blend of personal rants, tech musings, and whatever the hell else I feel like sharing. If you’re into computers, InfoSec, AI, or 3D printing, you’re in the right place. If you don’t like what you find, don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. 🤠

I’m a 35-year-old father from Texas, currently living abroad. My love for guns, BBQ, and computers is only surpassed by my knack for hacking and a burning desire to destroy stuff. I’ve been breaking into and tinkering with computers since I was a kid, witnessing the evolution from the AIX days to the current tech landscape.

Why this blog?

There are a few reasons I am motivated to revamp a personal website once more.

Firstly, LinkedIn articles stink. The article section has become an absolute cesspool of IT professionals – and those aspiring to be – spitting out regurgitated articles like an industrial manufacturing line just to be seen. It’s not really their fault. With today’s availability of job platforms, it has become increasingly complex to stand out.

Secondly, I miss personal websites. Personal sites were still insanely common when I was introduced to computers as a kid. They allowed folks to have a personalized space to share what was important to them – while limiting this privilege to people who were not complete idiots. If you have a social media account and haven’t been living under a rock for the past decade, you should understand my sentiment.

Lastly, this helps me. Besides being able to help others with some things I learned along the way, it is a fantastic way to keep a record for myself. I love looking back at my earlier code and seeing my progress – starting with my first website at seven. Back then, Micro$oft’s shitty Front Page wasn’t even a thing. I digress.

This blog is a reflection of me – unapologetically opinionated and occasionally profane. You can expect humor, sarcasm, and maybe a few heartfelt moments (though don’t get used to it). I’m here to make you think, laugh, and possibly question your life choices.

My audience? People like me – IT nerds, InfoSec enthusiasts, and dads who love their gadgets. If you find joy in the smell of a freshly printed 3D object or the thrill of a successful hack, welcome to the club.

Stick around, follow me on social media, and let’s make this a wild ride. I promise you’ll either love it or hate it, but you certainly won’t be bored.

Thanks for dropping by; keep your eyes peeled for some exciting content coming your way soon.

PS: It seems my entire life has been one never-ending international move. Don’t expect me to be in the same place tomorrow.
