The shittiest build EVER!

Most of us learn to assemble a computer from scratch at some point or another. Honestly, it has to be one of the most rewarding feelings in the world. From piecing together your config, assembling the rig, and watching it post for the first time, it’s a magical experience.
That “inner zen” quickly fades when the Verge goes out of its way to destroy it. Please read that again. To call it a “Catastrophe” would be an understatement.

My first build took place in the late 90s. Back then, finding helpful resources was hard, especially with services like YouTube missing. I learned by taking apart my old machines (much to the dismay of my parents), labeling cables, and figuring out how to put everything together again. Frankly, not much has changed in the process to this day. It’s not rocket science; any idiot with half a brain could do it.

Twenty-odd years later, most folks new to the IT world learn how to approach this procedure by watching YouTube videos or in-depth articles online. There are hundreds of videos. While the majority is primarily decent, one has caught the eye of many. I am, of course, talking about the disaster of a video the Verge released in 2018. Without further ado, watch for yourself.
SEVERE CRINGE WARNING!

The title says it all.
The video has gone so viral that, in response, there are now several hilarious reaction videos online worth watching. I sincerely hope no machine is seriously injured due to someone following this tutorial. I’m sure CapitalOne regrets sponsoring that one.

Update:

Linus from Linus Tech Tips (LTT) made a follow-up video with Stefan Etienne, the guy from the above video. It looks like Stefan learned some things from his mistakes, but I’m sorry: I don’t think I’ll ever be able to take him seriously again.
